Innovation clusters in the university environment

Innovation cluster is a group of independent enterprises: innovative start-ups, small, medium and large enterprises and research organizations that operate in a given field and region. They aim at encouraging innovation activities by facilitating intensive cooperation, sharing tools, knowledge and expertise, as well as effectively supporting technology transfer, network building and spreading information among enterprises in the cluster.

Member states strive to create an ideal and proper balance among small, medium and large enterprises within the cluster in order to reach critical mass, especially focusing on one area of R+D+I and at the same time taking other clusters operating in member states and on a community level in consideration.
