Research agreements

Throughout research cooperation processes knowing and understanding each others’ method of operation and motivation is extremely important for the partners in order to create beneficial terms for both parties and mutual advantages. The basis of any research and development activity performed with external partners is a written agreement. Hence before launching any research activity for which an external partner’s cooperation is necessary, all conditions need to be stated in writing.

Preparation and reconciliation of research agreements is the task of the Technology Transfer Center. However, initiating the preparation of research agreements is the responsibitilty of the head of the research project, so researchers need to make efforts to introduce proper university units into reconciliations with external partners at the earliest stage possible, ensuring that both parties are properly represented in the agreements to be made. In accordance with this it is kindly advised to include TTO associates in the process during the earliest phase possible.

All research agreements are distinct as aims and working conditions are different. That is the reason why no agreement template is published. Prior to producing the first agreement plan, TTO needs at least some basic information related to the planned research project and its budget. Tracing the research project is usually enough for this phase, the outline will be included in the agreement appendix. Primary agreement plans are sent to our partners following reconciliations with the head of the research.
