Research Service Agreement

Within the framework of Research Service Agreement the University provides service by utilization of its knowledge, expertise, and tools or by making them accessible for the third party. Such service can be a test, routine analysis, expert advice, counselling or opening up accessibility of certain tools supporting research results.

Under Research Service Agreement parties agree on ensuring that third party finances at least the following

  • proper and detailed definition of the service that shall be provided by the university, splitted into milestones based on time and activity;
  • expenses related to all persons involved in implementing the project (including social affixes charged to the employer);
  • expenses of tools and materials necessary to implement the project and other related fees (including tool amortisation and travelling expenses);
  • expenses related to utilizing tools of the university (especially tools of high value ) ;
  • overhead, as set in related rules;
  • VAT (if relevant).

Under those Service Agreements with a third party utilizing university equipment the third party financing have to cover at least the following

  • expenses related to equipment provided for utilization, counted in principle as follows: purchase price divided by number of months to be counted regarding deterioration, multiplied by number of months when the equipment is used by the third party, multiplied by the rate used by the third party;
  • all expenses related to low-value tools and consumables utilized by the third party ;
  • if the third party needs university employees for utilization of the equipment, all expenses related to all persons involved in implementing the project (including social affixes charged to the employer);
  • overhead, as set in related rules;
  • VAT (if relevant).

Intellectual property in Sevice Agreements

In Service Agreements all knowledge, methods, tools, softwares, intellectual property rights utilized or developed to provide the service are owned by the university. Although reports and data (measurements, test results, simulations, expert reports, etc.) produced as a result of provision of service are property of the third party and can only be used or published by the university with preliminary approval of the third party.

Researchers performing activities under the Service Agreement are employed by the university.
